I can be a little behind the times sometimes. Case in point, I just saw this wonderful video for the first time yesterday. In it, George W. Bush has a translator by his side during a speech in order that he might more effectively get his point across to the American people. Enjoy.

KPAX is reporting that progressive talk radio is on tap for Missoula in the new year. Their story says that they don’t know what station it’ll be on, but that the new format will be unveiled next week. I wonder if this will be a result of the efforts of Missoula Community Radio, the group formed after local progressive talk radio station KKNS shut down in March of 2006 following only six months on the air.

Here’s hoping for the return of a full-fledged, full-time progressive station!

Update: New West is reporting that KLCY will be converting to “KMPT, Missoula’s progressive talk.”

Update2: A commenter suggests that there is no connection to Missoula Community Radio. As the New West article mentions, this is a Dave Cowan project. Dave was involved with short-lived KKNS.

What better time of year to examine the terribly broken cycle of consumerism that we Americans so heavily contribute to? If there is a true spirit of Christmas in America today, it’s overconsumption. The following videos are an excellent and entertaining introduction to this very important subject.
